We first gained traction in the domestic transfer case market with our now-legendary BlackBox, EcoBox, and Titan Series product lines. Each one was engineered to improve handling and control through reliable, selectable gear reduction.

With success came the next challenge—bringing that same level of innovation to the Toyota off-road market. The result? The Eco-Crawler.

Why the Eco-Crawler?

For 1984–present VF chain-drive equipped Toyota 4x4s, dual transfer case options have traditionally been unreliable, overly complex, or simply unavailable. Most setups required outdated gear drive components, multiple adapters, and often resulted in a weak, excessively long, and failure-prone system.

We changed that.

How We Did It

Rather than repurposing old transfer case parts, the Eco-Crawler features a brand-new billet aluminum housing that accepts stock VF transfer case planetary gear sets.

• Direct fit to the factory transmission—no shaft adapters or couplers needed

• Precision CNC machined in-house for strength and exact tolerances

• Purpose-built for Toyota platforms needing compact, reliable gear reduction

How It Works

To install the Eco-Crawler, you’ll need a VF chain-drive transfer case as a donor.

• Remove the planetary gear unit from the donor case

• Install it into the Eco-Crawler billet housing

• A custom NWF input shaft connects directly to your vehicle’s transfer case—no splined coupler required

What You’ll Need

• A VF Chain-Drive Toyota Transfer Case to donate the planetary gearset

• Note: Torsen-type VF transfer cases are NOT compatible

• Stock “J” shift-style levers (if not using NWF Trident Shifters)

• “One-Touch” 2WD–4WD shifters are not compatible

IMPORTANT:

• EcoCrawler does not support RF1A transmissions (Lid bolt pattern), but will support 23 spline top shift RF1A transfer cases (base bolt pattern).

• Dana 300 Eco-Crawler does not fit Midnight Metalworks D300 transfer case.
  
  

• Atlas transfer cases require modifications to the cable shifters for proper fitment and functionality. Direct linkage shifters for the Atlas DO NOT fit with the EcoCrawler. For details, please call customer support at +1-(250)-248-6024.

• When mating an Eco-Crawler to a VF4 Transfer Case from the Tacoma 6 Speed Manual, the input retainer must be shortened. The Outside O-Ring Groove will be your cut line.
