When installing an underdrive into a Toyota, the shifting interface is just as important as the crawl box itself. Whether the crawl box setup of choice is a dual gear drive unit or the NWF EcoCrawler, the Trident Triple Shifters seamlessly integrate the transfer case and crawl box shifter interfaces into one unit, removing the need for shift sticks to come through the vehicles tunnel (and center console) in different locations. Billet aluminum shift levers and housings produce a rigid, light weight and durable shift assembly, while the stainless steel shift sticks resist rust and allow the option to produce custom profiles and bend patterns. The shifter kit works at all clocking angles of the EcoCrawler (up to 16° either direction) and uses lefthand-righthand turnbuckles for front-to-back adjustability of the shift knobs inside the cab.

Two pre-bent shift stick patterns are currently available; "Offset" and "Centered". Offset sticks are designed for the use in 1st generation Tacomas and 3rd generation 4runners, while the centered sticks are taylored to the early generation Toyotas running gear drive transfer cases and gear drive reduction boxes.

Got an idea of where you want your shift sticks to come through the cab? Select the "Universal" shift stick option to recieve three 14" pieces that are threaded and ready for shift knobs. Cut&weld or bend the pattern of your choosing!

Engraved Shift Knobs coming soon!

*Rubber shift boots not included and will be available soon.

*The Trident Shifter kit is only compatible with toyota transfer cases.

Features

Clockable - Spherical rod ends at both ends of the shift linkage allow the shift kit to function at up to 16° of clocking in either direction.

Adjustable - Right and left hand threads on the turnbuckles allows the shift sticks to be positioned further forward or backwards, based on clearance requirements in the interior.

VF/RF Compatible - Whether your vehicle uses an EcoCrawler with a chain drive transfer case, an EcoCrawler with a gear drive transfer case, a dual gear drive set up, or a gear drive crawl box with a chain drive transfer case, there is a compatible option available.

Tech

6061-T6 Aluminum Billet - Billet aluminum shifter housings, levers, and knobs

304SS - Stainless steel shift sticks

IGUS Bushings - IGUS G300 bushings let the shift kit function optimally while giving a high wear resistance to dust, dirt, water, and prolonged use.

Fitment

Selecting the Crawl Box Interface

If you are using an Eco-Crawler, there are two options; Top Shift and Forward Shift. This should have been determined when purchasing the Eco-Crawler. Click Here for the Eco-Crawler page and see the "Fitment" section for details.

Top Shift Eco-Crawler - Select this interface if your EcoCrawler is a Top Shift.

Forward Shift Eco-Crawler - Select this interface if your EcoCrawler is a Forward Shift.

If you are using a dual gear drive kit, there are three options for the crawl box interface; Top Shift, Forward Shift, and Forward Shift +1". The Top Shift option is for crawl boxes that use the shift position on the transfer case. The Forward Shift option is for crawl boxes that use the shift position on the transmission housing that's 3.36" from the transfer case shift position cover plate. The Forward Shift +1" option is for crawl boxes that use the shift position 1" further away than the Forward Shift position. See the diagram below.

Top Shift Gear Drive - Select this interface if you are using dual transfer case gear drive setup and your crawl box is Top Shift.

Forward Shift Gear Drive - Select this interface if you are using dual transfer case gear drive setup and your crawl box is Forward Shift.

Forward Shift Gear Drive +1" - Select this interface if you are using dual transfer case gear drive setup and your crawl box is Forward Shift +1".

Selecting the Transfer Case Interface

VF1/2/4 (Chain Drive) - Select this interface if your EcoCrawler Base is a VF1, VF2, or VF4 (using a chain drive transfer case in the rear).

RF1A (Gear Drive) - Select this interface if your EcoCrawler Base is an RF1A Base, or if you're running a dual gear drive set up.

Need more detail about Forward Shift, Top Shift, VF1, VF2, and VF4? Click Here to see the EcoCrawler page and ready the fitment section.

Selecting the Shift Stick Bend Profile

Offset - The offset bend pattern can be seen in pictures #3, #4, #5, and #6. This pattern fits the stock transfer case shift stick pass-through on first generation Tacomas and third generation 4Runners (The fit in any other vehicle cannot yet be guaranteed to clear).

Centered -  The centered bend pattern is built for early generation 4Runners and trucks running gear drive transfer cases and dual gear drive set ups. This is also a good option if a custom center console is being manufactured and you want the sticks centered on top of the original transfer case pass-through.

Universal - The universal option supplies you with three 14" lengths of stainless steel 1/2" bar that is threaded at one end, ready for the shift knobs. You can cut&weld or bend a custom pattern of your choosing. Once you have your pattern, determine the positioning of the sticks in the cab, and drill a 5mm (13/64) hole through the base of the shift stick for a locking bolt to prevent the sticks from spinning.

Common Questions

Question: Will the Trident Shifter housing on the transfer case fit in the tunnel at all clocking positions?

Answer: While the Trident Shifter kit will fit with limited to no modifications inside the tunnel at 0°, there is just not enough clearance to have the kit clear the tunnel if the EcoCrawler is clocked. The kit will function in all clocking positions, but tunnel modifications will be required.
